Dr. Thielen moved to Maui with his wife and children in 2018. He worked as an Orthopedic Surgeon with the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group from 2018 to 2021. Dr. Thielen is the first surgeon to perform and offer direct anterior total hip arthroplasty surgery on Maui. He also helped pioneer the same day discharge program for patients undergoing total joint replacement surgery at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Emily Newman has been practicing as a physician assistant since 2018. She was raised in a small town in rural East Tennessee. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Tennessee in kinesiology. While attending school at UT, she had the opportunity to participate in an undergraduate student internship for a local orthopedic surgery clinic. This solidified her interest in the physician assistant profession and the orthopedic surgical specialty.
